Heritage art and crafts are foundations that helped build Hong Kong’s unique and truly inspired bespoke gifting atelier, Novel Fineries. Founded by designer June Kimberly Lau in 2016, it was launched shortly after the brand’s signature Butterfly Pocket Art won the Lane Crawford call out. The founder and designer recalls, “I wanted to create a gift that would show just how much I appreciate those I love.”
After the Pocket Art, June began expanding her range of bespoke gifts to include intricately hand beaded gorgets, bows made of restored antique Japanese silk, leather and silver serpentine accessories and more recently digitally printed silks. “I love to create products with a story behind it,” she explains. “I travel to uncommon places to find artisans and work closely with them… The process of creating each piece by hand–from beginning to finish–is important to me. I need that process to stay true to my vision.”
Novel Fineries has also ventured into building a creative community bound by the same vision for craft and heritage. Just in time for the holidays, ARAO joins the growing collective as it showcases its most coveted South Sea Pearl fine jewellery in the atelier. Both brands share the same passion for responsible retailing, art, heritage, craft, and art. Like Novel Fineries, the fine jewellery brand celebrates the beauty of South Sea Pearls mindfully sourced from family-run pearl farms in Palawan, Philippines.
For ARAO Founder, Mirabel Rosar, establishing presence at the Novel Fineries space in Peninsula Hong Kong is a homecoming of sorts. She explains, “We are a Hong Kong based brand with deep roots in the Philippines. Last year, we set up our Manila home at the iconic AC +632 space in Greenbelt. This year, we are finding our corner at the Novel Fineries as one of the greatest gifts we’ve ever had in 2022.”
Pieces from ARAO which will be featured at the Novel Fineries Atelier include: new iterations of the best selling Paradox collection, timeless classics from the brand as well as limited edition keepsakes from the Alchemy by ARAO X Joanique collaboration.
