Pearls On The Runway

As style capitals came to life for Fashion Week this year, the runways saw a resurgence of creativity and energy. With most shows now happening in person, collections evidently echoed an enthusiasm and excitement for stepping out of lockdown—and subsequently, dressing up again. In New York, Paris, London and Milan, collections for Spring/Summer 2022 were seeped in color, sense of freedom and varied expressions of showmanship. If at all, this temperament shared across fashion capitals, hinted at an optimism for sunny days ahead.

Apart from the impeccable garments, accessories and jewellery played an integral role in conveying this buoyant sentiment. Regardless of the city, maison, look, model or creative director, pearls were de rigueur. We spotted some of the most stunning iterations of the timeless classic set against next year’s biggest trends. There were oversized baroque pearls that punctuated a return to party dressing and bright suits. Pearls were also reimagined as contemporary statement pieces by way of ear clips, cuffs and bag straps.
