Raising Hope, a gala hosted by the International Justice Mission (IJM) at The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club last March 14, brought together the worlds of art, style, travel, leisure and philanthropy. The charity dinner and auction was mounted by the organization to help raise awareness and generate funds that would combat Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC) in the Philippines. The committee adds, “We also want to engage and connect with our target audience, as well as share stories of this case work further.”
A silent auction led by Christie's Auctioneer Emanuelle Chan had guests bidding for exclusive getaways to Bali, Phuket, Japan and the Philippines. Works of art, masterclasses as well as wine and dine experiences were also put on the auction block. A rare pendant by ARAO featuring a flawless 16mm golden South Sea pearl set in 18k gold made a good case for pearls with purpose. It was immediately auctioned off to the highest bidder, who herself embodied values that make a Woman of Pearl.
A handful of ARAO’s Women of Pearls were also present, most of whom were spotted wearing their favourite pieces from the brand. “I have had the privilege of volunteering for IJM. I’ve made it my mission to spread the word about the work they do,” shared Woman of Pearl Stacey Marcelo who was part of the event’s organising committee. Other ladies from this tight knit community, including publicist Karrie Bitanga, legal practitioner Paz Angeles and luxury travel specialist Shy Sala also banded to extend their support for IJM’s cause.
ARAO Founder, Mirabel Rosar, who also stepped forward as a sponsor for the fundraiser event shares, “This is a cause that’s very close to my heart and those who are part of the ARAO’s community. As Filipinos, business owners, and mothers, we have the resources and the responsibility to fight modern slavery and abuse–especially for women and children. It is through platforms like the IJM that we can all come together to shine light on justice and freedom.”
